Morpeth Castle sits on a hill overlooking the River Wansbeck and the town itself. It was built in 1300, more for show than defence but once you are within the curtain wall, you could be inside the most remote Border stronghold.
At 3pm on Saturday 16 May, Morpeth Castle will participate in a shared Golden Moment with the 24 other Landmark Trust properties open across the country. Community music groups will simultaneously perform a specially composed Anthem for Landmark. Here at Morpeth Castle, ‘The Border Directors’ will be performing.
Come and be part of this special moment! If the weather is fine, you are welcome to enjoy a picnic in the grounds.
Free Admission and leaflets on the building’s history, see http://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/news-and-events/upcoming-events/morpeth-castle-open-day/ for more information
