The Archaeology of the First World War on Teesside | Robin Daniels
Grindon Parish Hall, Thorpe Thewles: Fri 21 Feb 2014

The focus of attention in relation to WWI is rightly drawn to the Western Front. However, all regions of Britain also witnessed major changes as new facilities were built or were commandeered to further the wear effort. This was particularly intense along the coast where aircraft, submarines, airships and artillery sought to fight off the threat to coastal shipping. The impact on the buildings and landscape of the area has not been studied in any detail an this talk will outline these hidden aspects of the First World War on Teesside.

Venue | Grindon Parish Hall, Thorpe Thewles, at 7.15pm (until 9.00pm) on Friday 21 February. Tickets are £3 each from Carlton & Stillington Post Office or members of the history group. Contact Linda on 01740 630014
