Heart of Teesdale: Historic Field Barns

PROJECT UPDATE: Historic Field Barns
The training weekend held at the end of November was a huge success. Members of the public who attended gained a fascinating insight into field barns and the techniques for surveying them. Both days were fully booked and feedback from those who attended was very positive.

It is likely that there will be more training events held in the future or other activities relating to Field Barn surveying, therefore if you are interested please keep an eye on our website for news and events. If you would like to take part in surveying the field barns of the Heart of Teesdale area or would like any more information then please contact Honia Devlin on 03000 260830 or honia.devlin@durham.gov.uk. Please note Honia only works part time so may not respond immediately.

PROJECT UPDATE: Community Archaeology
This project is led by the Architectural and Archaeological Society of Durham and, with the help of volunteers they have started the project with a geophysics survey of the land around Greta Bridge. The survey was carried out successfully and preliminary results are expected soon.

There are likely to be many more volunteering opportunities within this project, so if you are interested please contact David Mason on david.mason@durham.gov.uk
